The first Asian Cultural Dialogues was inaugurated in I.R Iran in the presence of Ministers of Culture, Foreign Affairs & Science along with representatives from 20 countries.

 


The first Conference of the Asian Cultural Dialogues opened in Tehran on Saturday Jan 13, 2018, with several Iranian ministers and guests from 20 Asian countries.


After the opening ceremony of the first Conference of the Asian Cultural Dialogues, academic sessions were held at the venue of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO).


Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mr. Abbbas Salehi, Foreign Minister Dr. Mohammad Javad Zarif, Science Minister Mansour Gholami, Vice Chancellor of the University of Tehran Dr. Mahmoud Nili and ICRO Chief Abouzar Ebrahimi Torkaman as well as several other Iranian and foreign officials has delivered their speeches on this occasion.
Panel discussions on ‘East Asia", ‘the Subcontinent" and ‘Central Asia and Caucasus" were held onwards during three days at the Faculty of World Studies, University of Tehran, Ferdowsi University of Mashhad and University of Mazandaran, respectively.

The International Conference on Cultural Dialogues between Iran and the Subcontinent was held on 14 and 15 January 2018 at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad. The main theme of the conference was the mutual heritage of Persian Mystic literature. Scholars from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India and Iran participated in this two-day conference. At the opening ceremony, all the speakers pointed to the large number of cultural commonalities between Iran and the Indian subcontinent.

 


Dr. Mohammad Kafi, the President of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad was the first keynote speaker at the opening ceremony. Dr. Kafi welcomed the Iranian and international guests and said: Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, in cooperation with Islamic Culture and Relations Organization, is proud to have prepared the opportunity for scholars and students from all countries in the region to freely express their ideas. The President of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad saw the intellectual and cultural efforts at this conference as the starting point for more effective regional interactions and asked the participants to do their best for promoting mutual cultural collaborations and creating a world without violence.

 


Dr. Mo"tamedi, the Cultural Director of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad and the Scientific Secretary of this conference also pointed to the high-quality of articles received by the secretary of the conference and reiterated, "a total of 27 research articles by Iranian and non-Iranian scholars have been accepted by the scientific board of the conference and these articles would be discussed in 6 specialized panels". Speaking of the long history of the region, Dr. Mo"tamedi mentioned ‘historical and cultural commonalities" as the key factor of relations between the nations in the region and argued that ‘despite some false claims, the emergence of Islam has promoted the existing relations between the nations".


Besides this the International Conference of Cultural Dialogues between Iran and the Subcontinent, notable scholars from India and Sri Lanka participated in exclusive interviews with the representative of the Public Relations Office at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad and expressed their views about the articles presented at this conference.
