A 3-day international seminar on "Persian heritage in the 14th and 15th centuries in Indian Sub-continent and Iran" was held in Aligarh Muslim University.


A 3-day International Seminar on "The Persian Literature Heritage in the 14th and 15th Centuries in Indian Sub-Continent and Iran" was organized by the department of Persian, AMU, in the presence of Mr. Hojjatollah Abedi, Deputy Cultural Counsellor of Iran, New Delhi, Dr. Ehsanullah Shakrollahi, Director, Persian Research Center, New Delhi, Chairmen of different departments of other universities of India, Professors, Scholars and students of Persian language & literature as well as history from India and Iran was inaugurated on Tuesday, April 10, 2018.


The co-organizers of this seminar were National Council for the Promotion of Urdu Language & Fakhr al-Din Ali Ahmed Committee Lucknow and it was started with the recitation of the holy Qur"an by Hojjatollah Shukohiyan, a Ph.D student of Iran in the same University.


Following the official welcome by Professor Seyyed Mohammad Ashgar, Head, Department of Persian, AMU, the opening ceremony of the seminar was started with the speeches of the Special guests Mr. Hojatollah Abedi, Deputy Cultural Councilor of Islamic Republic of Iran in New Delhi, Dr. Ehsanullah Shakrollahi, Director, Persian Research Center, Mr. Shahid Mahdi (Ex. I.F.S) former VC. Jamia Millia Islamia, professor Erfan Habib, an eminent historian, professor Arif Ayoubi, head of the Persian department, Lucknow University, Professor Mohammad Zahid, Dean and Faculty of Humanities AMU.


Mr. Hujjatollah Abedi in his speech said: " I believe that the things which doesn"t have ethical or moral values should not be considered as a part of literature while Persian literature is full of great examples of humanitarian aspects specially poetries composed during 14th and 15th centuries, such as Hafez, Amir Khosrow Dehlavi and Jami. He added that literary seminars should be the cause of value addition.


Dr. Ehsanullah Shokrollahi also spoke about the importance and necessity of rebuilding of the policy for the revival of manuscripts being preserved in everywhere in the world.


He continued and said: "The young Indian today do not have the opportunity to take advantage of those ethnic memories, and it is our duty to rebuild it, otherwise their cultural and historical identity will be distorted."
